Space flight requires that man be able to adapt rapidly to extreme changes in environmental factors; general problems of space biology are outlined relating to stresses resulting from acceleration-deceleration, weightlessness, various temperature changes, vibration and tumbling, artificial gas environments, and certain psychological factors; problems of blood circulation; 4 groups of metabolic failures; neurological effects of radiation.
