Experiments with Type MMC multi-notch controllers supplied to Tokyo-Yokohama Dentetsu KK, proved that acceleration was increased by 30% while mechanical shock was reduced by 50%; cars started so smoothly that notching of controller was hardly noticeable; writer concludes that motors can be started with considerably heavier overloads by use of this controller.
