Problems involved in airplane icing at high altitudes and in freezing, stiffening, and failure of variety of mechanical rubber articles used in airplane construction, have necessitated use by large manufacturing companies of freezing chambers for testing, development, and research work; description of low temperature chamber designed by Heinkel Aeroplane Co, suitable for smallest scale laboratory operations; principle used is that of freezing in air current in what is really low speed tunnel.
