To provide additional facilities at Charleston, South Carolina, Navy Yard for handling fuel oil and speeding up work of transferring it from tanker to storage tank to naval vessel it was necessary to construct new wharf with connecting pier and necessary appurtenances, including access road leading from adjacent highway serving yard; constructional details; typical trestle construction is employed throughout, with 3-pile creosoted bents spaced on 10-ft centers.
