How Detroit Diesel Engine Div of GM investigated turbo-charging process of 2-cycle engine, its effect on engine life and operating conditions; studies made considered compressor calibration, minimum air requirements of engine, use of variable nozzle between engine and turbocharger, method of rating engine, fuel governor, etc; it is believed that engine will prove economical and reliable for applications requiring maximum power with minimum of engine size and weight.
