Studies by Omaha District, Corps of Engineers, showed that concrete slabs must be cut before internal temperature of slab drops appreciably if control of cracking is to be assured; temperature studies at different locations and during different seasons; saw cut equal to 1/6th pavement thickness found adequate in controlling cracking.
