Concord supersonic transport will be powered by 4 Olympus 593 turbojet engines; Bristol Siddeley will provide turbojets; jet pipe; propulsive nozzles, reversers and silencers are SNECMA contribution; choice of optimum-cycle engine for supersonic aircraft is compromise; maximum thrust is required at takeoff, during transonic acceleration and when cruising; at same time low consumption is essential while cruising and during considerable time at subsonic speeds; development problems involved; Concord flight plan; problems raised by intake and exhaust system.
