Increasing use of pneumatics for remote control systems on ships has called attention to need for absolutely dry dust free air; Rimmer Mfg Co, Cardiff, produces conventional heat reactivated type and comparatively new heatless dryer, patent of Esso Research and Engineering Co; in both cases dryer uses activated alumina desiccant in pair of vessels; features of both types are described and arrangement of fully automatic heatless dryer is shown in diagram; shipyard applications are also noted.
