History of 3-yr Gemini mission planning period with emphasis on operational constraints on final rendezvous mission design; early planning involved tangential orbit technique; changeover to concentric orbit rendezvous plan overcame shortcomings of tangential plan but introduced new problems; location of rendezvous midcourse maneuvers was influenced by ground-station locations and by timing of events to take advantage of ground-based guidance capabilities; decision to employ simultaneous-countdown, same-day launch, altered early launch-window philosophies that depended on long, continuous window and on ability to call holds for trajectory considerations.
