Sugar is received at terminals by road or rail, or in some cases by both road and rail; sugar is carried in specially made boxes, containing five to six tons, constructed of plywood in steel frame; each terminal receives sugar from several mills, and sugar is paid for on weight and quality; rail vehicles can be discharged at rate of 20/hr (450 tph), and road vehicles at 25/hr (600 tph); storage buildings are of 150 ft span with concrete floors and side walls which are 17 ft high; from walls steel roof rises at about angle of repose of sugar, and in apex is belt conveyor to distribute sugar along length of building.
