Concept of Aerial Car Transportation (ACT) system discussed is based on series of continuously moving small cars, each with seats for two people and standing room for two additional, which are supported on single enclosed elevated rail and are pulled from station to station by enclosed cable; rail is supported by pylons along edge or center of street; study shows that combination of ACT system for local travel and high-speed transit for longer distances offers possibility of economical urban transit and will be able to operate profitably.
