In ports as well as on open sea, main sources of pollution are tankers, cargoes, port vessels or machinery, and land machinery; unfavorable factors are to be found mainly in considerable increase in volume of hydrocarbons handled; favorable factors result from -- application of London Conventions of 1954 and 1962 which prescribe providing of apparatus for treatment of offal water in ports and installing separators on more tankers and even cargo-vessels.
