Rail sleeve for joining rails has been developed at Southern Rhodesian mine; sleeve consists of 3/16 in. metal shaped to profile of rail section; in case of 30 lb rail, it is 8 in. long; profile extends to lower edge of rail crown only; greatest application is to temporary installations in mines such as secondary haulages and development ends; as sleeve is complete unit there are no accessories; spanners are not required, nor are rail punches or any other tools used for drilling holes.
