Steel, double ended, ice breaking automobile ferry, with twin screws at each end strengthened for ice, being built for Michigan State Highway Dept by Great Lakes Engineering Works; length oa 360 ft; beam molded 73 ft 6 in.; depth to spar deck 43 ft 4 in.; propelled by four Nordberg, 8-cyl, 2-cycle, port scavenging, solid injection, direct reversible, 2360-bhp Diesel engines; each engine drives single propeller through electric coupling; vessel carries 133 automobiles and 650 passengers.
