By cutting off weakened ends of flues or tubes and adding new piece from 8 in. to 12 in. long on one end, they can again be reassembled in boiler and used until it is necessary to repeat same operation; within last 12 yr more than half of railroads of United States and Canada have installed resistance welders in their maintenance departments; notes on shop practice by welding.
