Designed specifically for navigation and anti-collision purposes, marine radar detects presence of other vessels, of buoys, lighthouses, and shorelines by presenting continuous picture of territory surrounding vessel on cathode ray tube indicator; in this fashion, marine radar permits safe navigation in spite of fogs, darkness, or storms; essential components are illustrated and shown in block diagrams and their functions described.
