To understand attitude sensing and control concept of synchronous communication satellite, method of launch and subsequent operation are described; attitude sensing is necessary to determine correction required to obtain desired spin axis pointing direction and to pulse jets at proper phase in spin cycle to make desired correction to attitude or velocity; solar and radio frequency attitude sensing; first one is primary source of attitude information; radio frequency attitude sensing is accomplished by ground equipment and does not affect spacecraft design; principles of nutation damping.
