Changes in traffic flow characteristics in Washington, DC, measured on system of three parallel streets, when operation of system was changed from three two-way streets to one-way street on each side of center two-way street are indicated; center street was designed to promote mass bus transportation movements through traffic signal timing and to provide exclusive bus lanes during peak periods.
