It is explained that Court of Admiralty, part of High Court of Justice in England, recognizes 2 kinds of salvage; military salvage services are those rendered property in time of war in nature of rescue from enemy; Civil salvage, which is concern of paper, is preservation of life and/or property from dangers to which they may be subject both in peace or war; conditions associated with salvage, and also salvage company, ship and staff are discussed; typical salvage operation is described for ship of some 5000 gross registered tons which, in light condition, had suffered severe damage in way of engine room, flooded, capsized, and sunk near quay wall.
