Propagation of position and velocity errors caused by instrument errors is analyzed by 2 methods that supplement each other; for case of orbit-sustaining in upper atmosphere, strict nonlinear method based on Hamilton-Jacobi's partial differential equation is employed; regions of possible deviations from unperturbed orbit are determined by pure algebraic process; influence of second harmonic upon region of possible motion is analyzed for axially symmetric case using existing integrals of motion; low-thrust missions beyond orbit-sustaining are analyzed by first-order perturbation theory; solution is derived using elliptic orbits as unperturbed reference trajectories.
