EDT on July 31 following 243, 665-mi trip from Earth, spacecraft impacted on Moon; landing site was in Sea of Clouds at 10.7° S latitude and 20.7° W longitude; during 13 min prior to impact, its 6 TV cameras sent back to Earth first spacecraft photos of side of Moon facing Earth; examples of photographs taken; preliminary findings.
