Problems associated with takeoff and climb to altitude are similar to those of jet transport; planning acceleration from subsonic to supersonic speeds will be major problem because of effects of sonic boom; during approach and landing, sinking speeds of supersonic air craft will be about 10-20% higher than subsonic jets requiring higher ceiling and visibility minimums; weather services and airfield instrumentation that enable rapid forecasting at terminals to ensure safe operation are needed.
