Progress report of work done at Standard Oil Co showing difficulties of laboratory carburetor icing tests; methods of evaluating carburetor icing additives; based on semicontrolled field test, 26% of total car population can be expected to exhibit severe carburetor icing under conditions of 40-60 F and above 80% relative humidity; mechanical design is most effective means of controlling problem; further progress in additives is dependent on good evaluation techniques.
