American Oil Co undertook study of mechanism of icing by means of color motion picture photography and related effects of gasoline and car design that control refrigeration and heating of carburetor; features that effect icing tendencies are carburetor design and operating characteristics, and programming of choke, fast idle, and manifold heat systems during warm-up period; response of cars to additives; early application of heat appears to be most effective way to alleviate icing.
