Data show that diesel engine as prime mover is not necessarily most economical power plant; curves and examples are presented which any operator may use, substituting data from own operational records to arrive at own conclusions; graphical presentation shows economic relationship between diesel and gasoline injected and carbureted vehicles; curves show significant additional savings with gasoline injection; this holds true even for high mileage (100,000 mi/yr) and maximum weight operations (76,800 lb GCW).
