Computer computations for uniform beam, SS Gopher Mariner and MS Naess Falcon clarified that, of possibly useful methods, Holzer-Myklestad method (Prohl's method) requires division of ship into about 60 elements to obtain reasonable accuracy; method of influence functions gives satisfactory results when using only 20 elements; results for computations for Naess Falcon both taking influence of mass-moment of inertia into account and neglecting it showed no significant difference; as expected, beyond fourth or fifth mode approximation of ship hull by Timoshenko beam is no longer justified.
