Space vehicle wall concept is presented in which self-sealing feature is incorporated into multisheet wall structure to give configuration with high penetration resistance and self-sealing capability which minimizes fluid leakage from pressurized space vehicle compartments due to leak-provoking damage resulting from impacts by meteroric particles; best configuration tested employed foaming resin activated by catalyst on impact to produce volume increase and seal puncture; weight estimates suggest that structure should produce significant weight saving for mission durations exceeding few months.
