Prototype CL-84 V/STOL aircraft which is in advanced stage of construction at Canadair Ltd, Montreal, is designed for Army support roles, in particular combat support and utility transport; V/STOL program, jointly funded by Canadian Dept of Defence Production and Canadair, is intended to develop CL-84 to point where military demonstrations can be made; structural features; lift-propulsion system includes, in each of 2 nacelles, engine and propeller/gearbox unit; engine is Lycoming T-53-LTCIK-4A; performance estimates; technical problems; comparison with other V/STOL aircraft.
