Optical principles involved in formation of double images in curved glass are reviewed; three factors that determine visibility of these images are curvature, inclination (or installation angle), and wedge in glass; separation and brightness of secondary images so formed can be predicted for any glass design from knowledge of these factors together with glass thickness and its index of refraction; instrument, named Local Curvature and Wedge (LCW) meter, developed by Ford Motor Co, is used to determine extent to which each of factors contribute to presence of double images; principle of measuring.
