Statical and dynamical longitudinal stabilities, lateral and directional stability, autorotation and spinning of airplanes are discussed with special consideration to flat spin; to avoid flat-spinning tendencies, biplanes should be given ample stagger and gap; factors tending to damp yaw should be emphasized without making airplane clumsy from excessive directional stability; weights in fuselage should be concentrated along small portion of length of airplane, and those in tail avoided.
