Some of conditions that effect safety are: wide apron equipped with standard-gage track for direct loading or discharging of heavy lifts; where depressed tracks are used they should be at least 100 ft. back from dock apron; tractors or car pullers should be on each dock for purpose of moving cars; greatest single cause of accidents, from numerical standpoint, results from hand handling of cargo; supervision on terminals.
