Investigation undertaken by Bur. of Mines in coo peration with New York and New Jersey State Bridge and Tunnel Commissions to determine average amount and composition of exhaust gases from motor vehicles under operating conditions similar to those that will prevail in Hudson River Vehicular Tunnel. Road tests upon 101 motor vehicles, including representative types of passenger cars and trucks, were conducted at Pittsburgh experiment station of Bur. of Mines.
