Problems of ship in port are of such complexity that trained engineering mind is needed for adequate solution; handling of bulk cargo, ore, coal, grain, etc.; operation of loading a ship is more simple than discharging; features found essential for any type of equipment to handle numerous classes of freight found on steamship piers; customs weighing of imported cargo by U.
