Over 6000 weighing machines are employed on system; railroad in cooperation with Fairbanks Scale Co. and Bureau of Standards at Washington, developed in its own shops type of track scale based upon entirely different principle, known as "plate fulcrum"; plate fulcrum eliminates mechanical friction.
