Simplified drive described, which uses molded rubber units as means of transmitting tractive force and of providing requisite flexibility in place of coiled springs previously used; arrangement suitable for fitting to existing locomotives using coiled spring drives; review of railways which operate electric locomotives, with reference to individual axle drives and drives of flexible spring type.
