4100-hp engine manufactured by Armstrong Siddeley Motors, fitted in new naval strike fighter, Westland Wyvern; constructed on reverse flow principle, it consists of 14-stage axial compressor delivering air to 11 combustion chambers, and 2-stage turbine directly coupled to compressor; contrarotating propeller driven from front end of compressor shaft through epicyclic reduction gear.
