In general, it is indicated that air inlet or suction slot on upper surface increases lift or, on lower surface decreases lift in manner analogous to changing camber of airfoil; air inlet near nose has no effect on lift, while suction slot on upper surface, or equivalent of source on lower surface near trailing edge gives large lift increments.
