Comparison between British and American methods; in British method, aircraft is flown to within few feet of deck at constant rate of descent, and at air speed of 4-5 knots above stalling speed; this is achieved by power assisted glide; in U S Navy technique " constant rate of descent" is replaced by "constant altitude " final approach.
