Vessel built by Harland and Wolff in 1936 for Union Castle Mail Steamship Co, and used as armed merchant cruiser and troop ship during war, has been reconditioned by Harland and Wolff and returned to cargo and passenger service; length oa 560 ft; beam 71 ft 6 in.; depth molded 35 ft; cargo capacity about 8000 tons; accommodation for 460 passengers; propelled by two 9-cyl Harland-B and W engines, developing total of 9500 bhp at 110 rpm.
