Model experiments and observations made in ships laboring in rough seas; "slamming" is primarily due to rapid changes in distribution along hull, of those hydrodynamic pressures created by ship's speed and disturbed by dipping motion in seaway; suggestions for shaping hull forward to eliminate or reduce "slamming" effect.
