Conventional type of double-decker used in Great Britain in 1968 is of rear-engined layout with power unit mounted transversely; operators have choice of three makes, for in addition to Leyland Atlantean and Daimler Fleetline, Bristol VRT is now in production; over 250 examples of VRT are on order; constructional details, special engine heat removing features, and layout; brake system incorporates 15 cfm capacity water-cooled compressor, separate circuits for front and rear axles and spring-actuated parking brake.
