Third of five Lunar Orbiter spacecraft was successfully launched from Launch Complex 13 at Air Force Eastern Test Range by Atlas-Agena launch vehicle at 01:17 GMT on Feb 5 1967; Cape Kennedy and Grand Bahama tracking stations were used to control and guide launch vehicle; Agena-spacecraft combination was boosted to proper coast ellipse by Atlas booster prior to separation; final maneuvering to maintain 100-nautical-mile-altitude Earth orbit was controlled by preset on-board Agena computer which also determined maneuver and engine-burn period required to inject spacecraft on cislunar trajectory 20 min after launch; tracking data from downrange stations and Johannesburg, South Africa station were used to monitor entire boost trajectory.
