Performance of reusable space launcher system suitable for European development with air-breathing first stage and rocket-propelled second stage; merits of ram-rocket and turbo-ramjet propulsion are compared and research program required for such system is discussed; it is concluded that partly air-breathing reusable launcher system is likely to emerge as byproduct of air transport development.
