Investigation of dynamic loadings resulting from propeller forces and slamming; factors considered include cargo distribution, bulkhead, and machinery space location, flexural and shear stiffness of hull girder and double-bottom structure; results suggest that response to propeller excitation in range of frequencies above 350 cycles/min is sensitive to local mass and stiffness variations, but general trends can be identified for strong resonances at lower frequencies; increased flexibility of bottom structure and distribution of mass toward ends of ship are generally beneficial in reducing response to slamming.
