Investigation by mechanical analog and hydraulic model into effect of rope and fender stiffness on movement of moored ship; it is shown that wave period is important parameter effecting movement of ships in harbors; motion may be more sensitive to changes in period than to changes in height; many cases of ships breaking adrift could be accounted for by resonant motion; in surge and sway this occurs when period of waves equals natural periods of ship in sway or surge.
