Method of taking sea water through "Scoop" for condenser cooling water has been adopted by Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co, Ltd in building high-speed liner; results are given for measurement of flow and head losses in various parts of scoop; it is suggested that considering dynamic pressure distribution curve, it seems possible to adopt scoop of larger discharge and of larger lift by improving form of inlet mouth and outlet lip of scoop.
