Spacecraft passing through shadow-cones of Earth or Moon will experience wide variety of phenomena; eclipses, occultations, and transits involving Sun, Earth, and Moon will be much more frequent than on earth-bound sites; program of eclipse observations from spacecraft would not require initiation of new space missions; experiments could be simply instrumented and quickly performed; integration of eclipse program into planned missions, especially those with astronauts, would require primarily examination of proposed orbit inclinations and orbital altitudes; desirability of obtaining eclipse data should be considered for those missions with flexible orbital or trajectory restraints.
