Study of water landing problems of spacecraft is presented, including dynamics at impact, analytical efforts, model tests, and full-scale tests; model program was used to provide design information for spherical command module bottom; information was verified by full-scale tests; results have shown that model results are satisfactory for determining design loads during water impact and that better analytical methods are needed.
