Lift/drag required to permit return flight of first stage of reusable launch vehicle is investigated; conditions at stage separation (velocity, altitude, flight path angle, distance) are used as parameters; study requires selection of proper trajectories, i.e. control variable time histories; computer results obtained are presented which make it possible to estimate possibility of return without propulsion.
