Parametric study was made of helicopters powered with current-technology engines and advanced nonregenerative and regenerative engines as twin-engine installations having 1500 hp each; results indicated that with advanced engines considered, aircraft gross weights would be reduced by 32% when compared to current-technology engine powered aircraft conducting identical missions; how engine performance is affected by optimizing engine characteristics for aircraft missions is shown.
